On Board Shout (Farr 40) Video by Leighton O'Connor

Took a little ride on Shout last night. Shout is a Farr 40 and we sailed with a motley crew of 11. Winds were humming around 12-20. Nice breeze. We took a first.

Video - 2011 Marblehead Halifax Ocean Race On Board Denali by Leighton O'Connor

I crewed on Denali for the Marblehead to Halifax Race and what a fast ride it was. We were 4th over the line out of a fleet of 89 boats and had a finish time just under 36 hours. Unfortunately, our killer rating knocked us down to 12th place in IRC.

The three boats in front of us beat the 1989 record of 33:29 set by Starlight Express in a Santa Cruz 70. Bella PITA shattered the record with a time of 30:46. Canada's own Valkyrie had a time of 31:50 and corrected over Bella PITA for first place.

As well as crewing, I was shooting a spread for SAIL Magazine and footage for ESPN and Gary Jobson for a special airing in November. See the stills here: http://www.leightonphoto.com/Sailing-Regattas/Marblehead-Halifax-Ocean-Race

Eastern Yacht Club Annual Regatta on board Denali (KERR55) by Leighton O'Connor

Another prep race for me on Denali for Marblehead to Halifax race. Wind was a little lite but we managed to take a 2nd with 17 characters on board and our skipper MIA. Juddy on Africa squeezed out a first by correcting over us by 30 seconds

Video - Extreme Sailing Series - On Board Nice For You by Leighton O'Connor

Little bit of a wet ride today but at least it happened at the fourth day of Extreme Sailing Act 4 in Boston. I got on the boat for the seventh race (Day 4) and they ended up sending everybody in for an hour while a front passed through. The rain part of the front stayed. Breeze was very lite but still a nice ride. Typical Boston harbor wind conditions. You never know what it's going to do.
