Tuesday’s Gorgeous Drive

Image
Photos taken from Clinton, BC to Stawamus, BC on Tuesday. Absolutely gorgeous drive! Last photo is where I crashed Tuesday night in Stawamus Chief Provincial Park. (Crash...meaning spent the night.) May go for a hike in the morning.

Geese & 18 Wheelers Monday Night

Image
Grabbed a camp site at a campground in Clinton, BC. My site overlooks a beautiful pond which has a couple dozen charming geese. Hopefully the geese will drown out the 18 wheelers going by every 2 minutes 200 yrds away. :) Upsides are a picnic table  & showers. Tuesday I’m going to head south to Vancouver, BC through the mountains. I’m a head of schedule again so I could spend a night in the mountains. Outreach in Vancouver Thursday after I hit Walmart in the morning to get some baked goods, water & fruit to give out. missionforhope #cantstopdriving #jeeps #jeepers #givingback #helpingthehomeless

10,000 miles & counting

Image
Sunday around 5PM on Rt16 in Kitimat-Stikine, BC I hit the 10,000 mile mark on my trip. Been on the road 51 days with 149 to go. Will probably do another 10,000 miles by the time I get home in December. For the rest of the trip I have homeless outreach events scheduled in major cities every Saturday and the cities are pretty close together.  So I will have some time for off road detours between each cities. Next detour will be Olympic National Park in Washington for a few days next week.  I’m making my way towards Vancouver, BC and hope to do some outreach there.  Check in time for Seattle is 3PM on Friday. Kind of looking forward to a few comforts of a hotel after living in my Jeep two weeks.  Thank you for all your encouragement, support and prayers. Couldn’t do this without all of you! (Oh… The second shot was taken where I boondocked it last night on Drywilliam Lake. ) #missionforhope

My Own Church

Image
Couldn’t find a church service Sunday morning. Both churches closed. So I had my own service complete with worship, communion, reading of scripture & prayer. My worship this morning was about praising the Lord for being with me every mile and praising everybody who has been encouraging me, supporting me and praying for me. Thank you!  I couldn’t do this mission trip without all of you! #sothankful

Tight Border Security!

Image
Just a few images taken in Stewart, BC & Hyder, AK. Cute little towns but both churches are no longer open. Second image is US border in Hyder coming from Stewart. Tight security. When you go to the glaciers you have to through Canada from Hyder and no customs officers there either.  Last image is where I boondocked Friday night.

Jeeps aren’t toys...well maybe sometimes.

Got some toy Jeeps for future Jeepers I meet along the way.  #missionforhope #jeeps #jeepers #givingback #helpingthehomeless

Really off the grid in Stewart, BC

Image
Went pretty far off the grid Friday in Stewart, BC via Hyder,AK. Went about 37 miles in and came to a river across the road. Felt I could make it a across but did not feel that comfortable being such a long hike from civilization if anything happened. (Got to learn emergency frequencies better on my ham.) Highest elevation was 3,800 ft.  Passed several glaciers and old and new mines. Set up camp and cooked dinner but headed down the mountain when rain and wind increased. Didn’t want to be caught in a slide. Ride down was pretty rough in the fog and rain. Will post video in a few days. Many more photos of yesterday’s trip on Gaia:  http://www.missionforhope.us/where

Happy Friday Morning!

On & Off The Grid!

Making Good Time

Image
A few images from yesterday. Most were taken around Destruction Bay in the Yukon. The last one is where I stayed last night in Whitehorse. Had a good night sleep. It actually got dark! I’ve made some good time the last few days so a bit ahead of schedule to make Seattle for outreach on the 3rd. Plan today is to head east to Watson Lake so I can head south on the Cassiar Highway into BC. Hope to upload a video of Destruction Bay in a bit once I find some good wifi.
