I'm so thankful for the gifts that God has given me and His blessings. After grabbing this shot with my iPhone this morn on my way to work, I spotted a quiet homeless man. He was sitting on the sidewalk with a backpack next to him and a small basket in front of him with a few Eros in it. I had some breakfast goodies and give them to him along with a few Eros. I asked him where he was from and what his story was. We chatted for a while and I asked if I could pray with him. He said yes and I put my hand on his shoulder and I prayed out loud. His eyes filled up. I told him I loved him and God loved him. Open your heart today and pray with a stranger or friend and tell them they are loved. You'll be surprised what it will do for the both of you.

Newbies need to sell sailing, not experts. Published on October 7, 2014| Scuttlebutt contributor Leighton O’Connor has been in Alicante, Spain to experience the launch of the 2014-15 Volvo Ocean Race. After mingling in the crowds, and getting on the water last weekend for the In-Port and Pro-Am races, Leighton has gain perspective not only of the event, but what might be a hurdle in getting new people into sailing… It was my first day at the Volvo Ocean Race Village in Alicante, so I decided to go for a stroll through their race village. Two of the Volvo 70s from the 2005-2006 race, The Black Pearl and the Brasil 1, were on display and giving tours. I signed a release to go on board Brasil 1, and was handed a helmet and flash light to go below decks. I was below for a few minutes, saw some very excited kids enjoying the tour, but it was too hot for me so I went topsides. 2014-2015 Volvo Ocean Race - On Board Abu Dhabi for Pro-Am Race - Alicante, Espana

Sunday I also got to sail with Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing for the first Pro-Am Race and Team Alvimedica for race two. Both crews were really on their game even thought the racing was a bit casual.  The fun part of the day was the transfer between the boats between the races. I got lots of compliments for the Team Alvimedica for my shirt peal on the rib before climbing on board to sail with Charlie, Mark and crew. Sunday I got a chance to ride along with skipper Charlie Enright and crew for the Pro-Am race in Alicante, Espana.  Winds were kind of lite so I got a little creative and funky with the video.  The crew was feeling good today after clenching a first in the In-Port race yesterday.
