I’m heading home today...kind of.


I’m heading home today after church...kind of. My original plan was to explore the mountains of eastern Tennessee and Kentucky on the way home but with all the rain I think l’d get stuck in some mud. So I am going to go left instead. I’ve got some landmarks on my route I’ve always want to visit and some pretty cool National Forests I’m going to hit. I should be home Friday or Saturday. I never did get the time to see any of the touristy sites in downtown Nashville so I planned a pretty Fun-Sunday. I have some pretty cool stops up my sleeve and on my phone. Mission Accomplished!

  Yesterday I arrived in Dar Salaam, Tanzania and last night the car rental agency picked up the Land Cruiser. I’m not going to lie, it was a great relief when they picked it up. I didn’t post all the issues I had with the Land Cruiser, but they included replacing the clutch twice, replacing both batteries, thr spare tire rim and various issues with the electrical system, stove, bulbs, door latches, windows and tire leaks.  Although I spent a lot of time working on repairs of the Land Cruiser, I couldn’t imagine doing the trip in any other vehicle because of the very poor roads in Kenya and Tanzania. The Land Cruiser was an absolute beast, everybody knows how to fix them and parts are readily available. In 28 days, I drove 9,924 km, visited 7 churches, 5 wells, 3 schools, 2 orphanages, 1 clinic and gave out 200 storybook bibles. (Although, 13 of the storybook bibles were given to 8 Tanzanian Police Officers instead of the cash they requested.) I also shared a message at 3 chur...

My route so far in Africa

This if my route so far in Kenya and Tanzania. Right now I’m in the southwest part of Tanzania where the gold arrow is. I’m heading east to Dar Saalem this week.  My Garmin stopped working a few days after I arrived in Kenya a few weeks ago. I’m using Gaia and it’s not my favorite for tracking and definitely not very useful in Kenya and Tanzania for finding places to camp. 54 Cities in 300 Days!

Yesterday was our last outreach to help the homeless. Over the last 300 days and over 28,000 miles, Mission For Hope & Christian Jeep Association has given out thousands of blankets, hygiene kits and Bibles along with lots of clothing, food, water and prayers in cities across the United States & Canada.  THANK YOU to all the people who encouraged, supported and prayed for me the last 300 days. Thank you Beantown Blankets for donating thousands of blankets and shipping them into all the cities.  Next… Tuesday I fly to Kenya for month to help the children in Kenya and Tanzania get better access to clean water, healthcare and education.  Three days after I get back from Africa I leave on a 5 month trip in my Jeep to 10 states to attend 18 Jeep events that the Christian Jeep Association will be attending.  Thank you for your encouragement, support and prayers for my next two trips!  Acts 1:8 ‭
