People Loving Nashville

Image
Yesterday I helped out an amazing organization called People Loving Nashville. They are ten year old non-profit that has been feeding the poor and homeless on Monday nights in downtown Nashville. Their organization started ten years ago when they wanted to give their Thanksgiving leftovers to the poor. They have not missed providing a meal on a Monday night in ten years. They also give out clothes and sleeping bags on Monday nights. Two other non-profit organizations have joined them to provide showers and haircuts. The day began by helping to prepare all the food in a commercial kitchen in the basement of  a church. The menu was chicken fingers, salad, homemade macaroni and cheese and fresh baked cookies. As we got closer to bringing the food downtown, the church’s cafeteria filled up with over 60 people who came to help out. Before we left to bring the food and clothes downtown we were assigned jobs and had a time of prayer. I originally signed up to pass out the cookies but ask

I’d like to have @conveniencekits send me a few cases 3-day so I can distribute them on Friday. PM me if you would like to be part of this. I can send you my PayPal link. Thank You!

Rain, Snow & Ground Beef - Update Day #6

Before I left President Lincoln’s birthplace I went into the visator center and to ask  some questions about Annual National Park Passes. I told them about my big trip across the country starting in June. They told me they didn’t sell them but they are sold at Mammoth Cave National  Park an hour away. I told them I was actually heading there to camp. They told me I’d better hurry about because they close at 5. They told me there is a fee to get into the park and they thought the campsites were closed.   Well I didn’t like hearing that so I drove down the street and pulled in grocery store parking lot to came up with a new plan. Also needed to do a bit of work on my laptop. I spent about 20 minutes looking at Mammoth Cave National Park on Gaia to see if there were any dirt roads going into park that might have a secluded spot to camp.  I found one dirt road and verified it was a good place to go after looking at the satellite image, the public land map, the private land map and the N

Luxury Camping Last Night in Kentucky

Nashville Mission Trip Update   - Day #5   I did a lot better yesterday...I only spent six hours at a rest area working on the Mission For Hope website. But in the morning I did work in a convenient store parking lot for two hours doing social media stuff. Time management is definitely something I need to work on for the big trip.  Last night around 9:30 I ended up in the White Sulphur Horse Camp in the Daniel Boone National Forest in Bath County, Kentucky.  I had my pick of sites and special treats which included an outhouse and picnic table.  All the luxuries of home!  By time I settled in, the meatballs that I made in the rest area earlier in the day were ready in My HotLogic.  It was a bit warm last night. 60! So I clipped my USB fan to the visor to get some air moving in the Jeep. No bugs so I didn’t have to put the screens in. After dinner I watched a movie and fell into a deep comforting sleep.  Woke up around 6:30 this morning and went into my usual routine of cleaning u

Nashville Mission Trip Update - Day 4 in Ohio

Wanted to give a bit of of update of my travels the last few days. Yesterday morning weather was pretty nasty so I waited it out quite a few hours at in a Pilot parking lot before making my way south to West Virginia. Once I arrived in West Virginia I spent six hours working in a rest area. I reached out to over 40 potential corporate sponsors for Mission For Hope. The response so far has been amazing! I have about two dozen more companies to reach out to today.  Last night I made my way into the Wayne National Forest which is in the Southwest tip of Ohio that boarders West Virginia and Kentucky. I spent the night in a pretty remote spot. A bit chilly but I enjoyed a hot chicken dish which I started cooking at the rest area in West Virginia. I wanted to go deeper in the woods but with the mud and no winch, I didn’t want to take any chance.  I refrained or should I say restrained myself and stayed put and wrapped myself in my sleeping bag and watched the movie Patton.  After a stunn
